Dhan Bir BK, a 4 and half year old male child from Chaurjhari, Rukum, Karnali province was diagnosed with Diplegic CP. He was admitted to ADC on 24th May, 2019. The main concern of his mother was that he was unable to stand and walk. He had good head control, rolling, creeping and crawling. He has skillful play if taught. The main goal of our team was to make him able to stand and walk within 3 to 6 month. We provided him play and functional therapy, strengthening training, balance and propioceptive exercises, gait training and some basics of special education. On 7th August, we re-assessed him and found out that he was able to stand with minimal support and can walk properly with the support of walker. His parents are so motivated with progress that they want to keep him more in our rehab center. Also our goal is to make him independent and enhance his quality of life.

Special education in ADC:

With a motive to serve disabled and helpless child, ADC has been working as one of the institution which provides physiotherapy services and special education. Our main goal is to rehabilitate the CWDs, so that they can live independently and with dignity. We know that we are lagging behind in vocational and occupational therapy but we are trying our best to fulfill that need as well. For rehabilitation, special education is important for the children with disability. We have been providing basic knowledge to the children so that they can read and write in near future. Till now we have one special education teacher who is using different methods to teach different types of children with disability. With her help there are many children who can read and write till now. In near future we are planning to expand our educational block and recruit new teachers for more number of children.

Thank you for being with us.

What I felt About ADC:

Lokedra with ADC kids

I am Lokendra B.K, 19 years old male from Nalagadh-2, Jajarkot, Nepal. Currently, I am a student of Bachelor of Education  from Tribhuwan University, Surkhet. I am physically disabled and economically poor person.
On 2074-12-24, I was informed that a team of ADC is going to visit Nalagadh Municipality for screening camp related to disability before 2, 3 days. I went at the camp site and visited physiotherapist at the camp. At the camp I was the only one who was more than 18 years old. ADC had criteria for free treatment was for pediatric age group only. Furthermore physiotherapist in the camp suggested me that my disability could not be corrected rather my lifestyle could be easier with occupational and vocational training. The Board member of ADC offered me to have diploma course in computer for free. Also they provided me to stay in the hostel of ADC for free which was 1month after the camp. On Jestha, 16 2075, I came to ADC to study for the offered subject. My economic condition was not sound for the course that is why I was happy to have that course. Also, I managed to study Basic English language at Surkhet. Currently I am working as a volunteer in ADC.
My goals:
As a disable person I have always been interested to work in the field of disability. I have been trying to do my best and serve various disabled child in ADC. Last but not least I would like to serve my district Jajarkot, which is one of the rural most district of Nepal and I will always support ADC for this kind of activities.
