C P Chair Donation from Parents of Takshika

Dear Well wishers,


On 15th October 018 Tejashwi Bashnet & Rabina Pyakural Bashnet visited ADC to donate C P Chair, Wheel Chair and some doll set to C P Center. Bashnet Couple is  the parents of our client late Takshika Bashnet.



Our adviser Rishikeshar Khanal welcomed them in C P Center and appreciated for their donation. Parents of Takshika  expressed  their will to help C P Center  in near future.

C P Center Visit from H I Team

Dear All

Last month ( on 27th Sep. 018) a team from Humanity & Inclusion ( H I ) came for visit to ADC .  The members from H I team were Physiotherapist Gaetan Nareschal , P T Sunil Pokhrel ( he is advising and helping  ADC since its establishment ) , Rahil shrestha & Nirajan Chaudhari.

The main purpose of the visit was to study the current scenario of C P  and possibility of human inclusion program in Surkhet. 




There was meaningful discussion about cerebral  palsy rehabilitation, service delivery system to C P kids  and some feedback & suggestions.

Dr Jacques Welcomed In ADC

Dear Welshers

ADC organized WELCOME Program for our Respected Donor Dr. Jacques in ADC Surkhet.


The program was planned for 2nd octuber 2018. After the arrival of Dr Jacques Vigne, he was welcomed with flowers and  garland  by ADC kids, guardians , board members and other invited guests.





Deputy Mayor of Birendranagar Muncipality Miss Mohan Maya Dhakal was invited as a chief guest. After the arrival of Deputy Mayor she lighted on Deep & Kalash then  the formal program was started. Welcoming for chief guest BODs , parents and other delegates was done.







The welcoming speech was given by our vice secretary Mr Purna Bahadur Rawat. After that the speech was given by our Respected Adviser Rishikesher Khanal and then Guardians of our kids. 







There was  discussion program about ADC children at ADC and their progress led by our Senior Physiotherapist Dependra Thakur.





After the discussion, we conducted feedback session from parents. Overall the feedback and responses were positive about the work we were doing. After the feedback program our respected donor Dr Jacques was presented with Letter of Appreciation and Khada. Dr Jacques gave some speech on his social work and spiritual journey.







Program facilitator and secretary of ADC Mr.Gyanendra Gautam described about ADC in summery. There was speech given by Chief guest Mohan Maya Dhakal. She advice ADC Team to present proposal to Government office and coordinate to her in future to work for the children with cerebral palsy.







At last of the formal program there was conclusion speech by our President Mr Ganesh Bahadur Rawat.






After the conclusion speech there was a short tea break and informal program. In which ADC team showed how we are working with kids and stakeholders.










Overall the program was short and sweet with great success.

Celebrate Teej Festival In C P Center

Dear All
Warmth regards.


Today we celebrate Teej festival in C P center with our special kids.   
 Teej is a religious, social and cultural festival in Nepal in which the married women visit their parent’s home and celebrate Teej with their mother, sisters and friends. In this festival  women dance and sing songs at home, temples and nearby public places and have special foods with happy environment.


ADC team decided to organize small get together among our special kids, staffs and board members today. All kids have enjoy with this program. Here is some clips :

Today Our Board Members  Visit to the Center & discussed about the progress & activities of  the children with Physiotherapy Doctor & other staffs. Using Auto Motor for C P Center

ADC Meetings : To rent vehicle for C P Center



Dear All,

               Our Clients lives in different areas in Surkhet valley. So, Guardians are facing many problems to get services regularly because of  lack of proper transportation. Therefore ADC conducted different meetings in this month to solve the problem and how to deliver our effective service to our clients. Finally ADC board meeting decided to rent a van to bring children from home to center and center to home.

 ADC called for guardians meeting and  collected feedback and suggestions from guardians. our meeting concluded on agreement to hire van and provide special education, vocational training and speech therapy with physiotherapy.

After discussion on various topics, finally ADC and guardians decided to make a Guardian Group , who will help to facilitate and coordinate to get  service from ADC. According to the decision of meeting  in the joint effort of Guardian and ADC , it will run a vehicle soon.

Count Me : A Joint Movement

22 Jul. 2018, Surkhet

Dear all,

             ADC is working for the children with cerebral palsy from the very begining. ADC has been providing Physiotherapy and general education for our kids in our center. Also,we participate or initiate for advocacy of child and over all disability in our community when needed. In this back ground ADC  joined in a movement ; Count Me , with different disabled people organizations (DPOs) in province Karnali, Nepal. The movement is led by National Disabled Federation , Karnali Province Chapter.

"Count Me" is a movement for advocacy for Rights of disabled people. It gives pressure to government to take action to make easy and helpful law for people with disability. Its main aim is to make disabled friendly government policy, disabled friendly development ( Road , Offices , School , College, Health Centers  etc ) and disabled friendly Society.

Success Story of Suman Aarupate





Suman Aarupate, 9 yrs old boy from Pipalkot, Dailekh was admitted to ADC in Falgun 8th ,2074 with the chief complain: unable to walk. He was brought in ADC by his aunt so we don’t know his pre, peri and post- natal history.

On observation, he had ectomorphic body built with normal facial grimace. He had drooling from his mouth with athetoid posture. He has normal hearing and vision but impaired speech. On examination, he had increased tone in bilateral UE and LE (Grade I in Modified Ashworth's scale) with athetosis. He had exaggerated  reflex in Biceps, Triceps, Knee and ankle with positive plantar reflex. He had persistant ATNR reflex. He has good head control, rolling, creeping and crawling, sitting and ability to change position but unable to stand and walk. He had good sitting balance but need moderate support in toileting, eating and dressing. He plays purposefully. For him our anticipated goals were to make his trunk control able to stand, walk, and make him able to play to play skillfully. NDT approach, AROM ex, Spasticity reduction techniques, functional exercises and play therapy were the treatments given for him.

                             What we achieved in 3 months??

                

He was able to stand within 1 month. With basic speech therapy, drooling was stopped. He started walking inside room since 2 months of treatment session. Now he is able to walk and come to ADC from home with minimal support. He has good trunk control with good sitting and standing balance. He can play with different toys.

Success Story of Sudarshan Rokaya


Sudarshan Rokaya , 1 and half years old male child from Nalaghat-8, Jajarkot was admitted at ADC on 2nd Baisakh 2075with a chief complain – unable to sit and crawl independently. According to his mother, he is a preterm baby (7 months) with no history of cry at the time of birth (delivery at home). The baby started to recognize his mother at the age of 1 year, started cooing at 1 year, started to speak 2 letter word at the age of 14 months and rolling at 16 months.





On observation of the child, his build was mesomorphic and facial grimace was normal. He had no drooling and dismorphic features. He has normal hearing and vision with impaired speech. On examination his tone was normal in bilateral upper and lower limb with normal superficial and deep reflexes. He had good head control and rolling but was unable to creep, sit, crawl, stand and walk. He had impaired balance and unable to do toileting, eating and dressing. He was diagnosed as Diplegic Cerebral Palsy. Our anticipated goals for him for initial 1 month was to make him able to creep and make him sit independently with trunk control.

 
The treatment given for him was Neurodevelopmental Therapy (Bobath Approach) for crawling and creeping using different attractive toys. Play therapy while sitting in order to gain his trunk control before independent sitting. Functional exercises like holding and throwimg different objects, reaching etc were done for upper extremity function. Also, basic speech therapy was given.


What we achieved after 1 months of treatment sessions?


             
Now he is able to crawl at least for 5 to 6 steps. He can hold his trunk while siotting for at least 2-3 minutes. He can play different toys for 5 to 10 mins. He can speak 2-3 words more than before.

Success Story of Sunil B K


            Sunil B.K, 9 years old male child  from Lakha-4, Jajarkot was admitted to ADC on 3rd Baisakh, 2075 with a chief complain- unable to walk. We can find out his prenatal, perinatal and postnatal history since he was admitted by his sister and she don’t know about him much. But she gives history of crawling and quadruped position at the age of 5 years. He was unable to stand and was having difficulty in upper limb movements.

On observation, his build was ectomorphic, no drooling with everted foot bilaterally. He had normal higher mental function. On examination he had normal tone with normal reflexes. He had good head control, rolling, creeping, crawling and ability to change position but difficulty in standing and walking. He had impaired standing balance but able to do toileting, eating and dressing. We diagnosed him as Diplegic CP. Our anticipated goals for initial 1 months were to make him gain his proper trunk control, strengthening upper and lower limb, make his upper limb more functional and to make him able to walk within room with assistive devices like walker.
The treatment given for him were sit to stand and vice versa exercise, balance training exercise, functional exercise and gait training with and without support.

What we achieved after 1 months of treatment sessions?

Now he is able to walk inside and outside the rehabilitation room and go for toileting independently. He is able to do independent sit to stand. He has been playing with different toys of different shape and size. He can walk anywhere except staircase using walker. He has good trunk control and standing balance as well.
